Being a care providing service Brookvale is required to hold personal data, mainly on clients but in some cases their families, other professionals and members of the public.

Brookvale knows you value your privacy and who has access to it. Under the data protection Legislation and specifically, the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), we have a duty to comply with certain requirements set out in these regulations in order to ensure that any Data you provide to us is processed and not abused.

This Privacy Policy will set out what personal data we hold about you, how we collect it and how we use information about you. We are required to notify you of this information under the data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection regulation (the “GDPR”).

About us

Brookvale is a residential care home providing social care for adults with a learning disability over the age of 18. We do not provide nursing care.

What information do we collect?

We may collect the following information about you when you enquire about one of our properties or developments:

  • Address (Including previous care provider or home)
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Details of your enquiry
  • Medical information
  • Financial information

How we collect information from you

We collect data from you from a number of sources:

  • Via the internet when you submit an enquiry
  • Social services
  • Health professionals
  • In person
  • By telephone

How we use your information

The information we hold on you will allow us and our staff to provide the best level of care and also work with fellow professionals in order to ensure to your care needs are met to the highest standard. It is necessary for us to hold a lot of personal information in order to do this.

The information held on you will be saved securely on encrypted files. It is also necessary for us to hold information on paper in care files, these will be stored securely in a locked space in a locked office.

We will only share your information with fellow professionals who are involved in your care. This would include social workers and health professionals. We will not share your information with people or organisations unknown to you without your permission.

We will not transfer your information outside of the EEA.

We will not use your data for purposes that are not clear when you provided your details and will not disclose the data outside of the home except in limited circumstances as outlined below:

How long do we keep your information for?

Information is held in line with data protection for care homes. Information can be found on the link below. Care records that have been transferred to a digital format will be destroy onsite or by an approved contractor.

What security measures do we have in place?

All digital records are held on encrypted files and paper records are held in secure spaces within locked offices.
